FEDERAL ASSISTANCE REMAINS AVAILABLE
FOR INDIVIDUALS AND BUSINESSES IMPACTED
BY THE SEPTEMBER, 2008 FLOODING
LAST DAY TO REGISTER IS DECEMBER 2, 2008
Residents and small business of Will County can still register for federal assistance to assist in the recovery from the September, 2008 flooding. The last day to register is December 2, 2008.
Victims of the disaster may register for assistance through FEMA by telephone at 800-621-FEMA or (800) 462-7585(For Hearing and / or Speech Impaired Individuals) or through FEMA's website at www.fema.gov. When applying for disaster assistance please have the following information available:
- social security number;
- daytime telephone number where FEMA can call you back at;
- current mailing address where you are staying;
- address and zip code of the damaged property;
- directions to the damaged home or property;
- private insurance information, if available;
- and, pen and paper to write information down that is provided to you.
Keep in mind government disaster assistance covers basic needs only and will not normally compensate you for your entire loss. If you have insurance, government disaster assistance may help pay for basic needs not covered under your insurance policy. Some disaster aid does not have to be paid back, while other assistance may come in the form of loans.
