Access and Functional Needs

The Access and Functional Needs Registry is now part of Smart911. Create a Smart911 profile to securely share information that may help emergency responders better assist you before, during, or after an emergency.

Smart911 is a valuable tool for emergency planning and response, but it should not replace your personal emergency plan. Please make sure you have a plan to evacuate or shelter safely with support from family, friends, neighbors, caregivers, or other trusted contacts.

Creating a Smart911 profile helps emergency responders and emergency management better understand who may need additional assistance during an emergency or evacuation. However, it does not guarantee that first responders will be able to contact or assist you during every emergency. If you are able to safely evacuate, please do not wait for emergency responders to come to you.

To keep your profile useful, please review and update your Smart911 information regularly so first responders have the most accurate information available.

File of Life

Multiple “File of Life” emergency medical information forms stacked together, used to record personal health details and emergency contacts.

When every second counts, having important medical information readily available can save a life. The File of Life is a free card that lists vital health details—such as medications, allergies, and emergency contacts—stored in a red plastic pocket on your refrigerator for first responders to access quickly.

Will County Emergency Management Agency distributes File of Life magnets. Please submit any requests to ema@willcounty.gov
