March 9th, 2024 at Joliet Junior College 1215 Houbolt Road, Joliet, IL 60431 - Building U . We sincerely hope that you can join us, as together we strive to make a safer and more secure community for you.
Embark on a journey towards community resilience and preparedness! Tailored for all, the event offers a Family Track and a General Public Track that includes hands-on disaster training suitable for all ages! Come together as a community to build strength, knowledge, and preparedness for a safer tomorrow. Lunch will be provided.

Family Track 9am – Noon
This family program series is geared towards families with grade school age children. Adults and children will participate in 3 interactive programs designed to prepare you, not scare you! You will design your own preparedness bag and learn what to do during emergencies – like calling 911. You’ll practice the hands only CPR and discover what to do if you get lost in the woods! The series will come to an end with a fun and interactive presentation on severe weather by the National Weather Service! When thunder roars…go indoors!
This track is intended for families with Children 11 and under.
Children must be accompanied by a registered adult.
General Public Track 9 am – 3pm
Join us for the Will County Public Preparedness Workshop, a vital event aimed at enhancing our collective preparedness for disasters. Delve into the histories of past local disasters, learning valuable lessons that inform our approach to future challenges. Engage in hands-on disaster preparedness training, covering essential skills such as hands-only CPR, Stop the Bleed, and Narcan administration. Explore threat recognition and hazard assessment specific to our community while gaining insights into financial preparedness and cybersecurity awareness. The workshop concludes with a presentation by the National Weather Service on severe weather, offering crucial information to keep our community safe. This track is intended for Ages 12 and up.
Participants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a registered adult.
